Congratulations to Ryan Bingham (and T-Bone Burnett) for winning Best Original Song at last night's Academy Awards. For those of you who haven't heard Ryan's name before, he's a former real-life cowboy turned singer/songwriter. I first heard of him just over a year ago and have since picked up all 3 of his records. He's young, but has a convincing tone in his voice that assures you he's lived what he sings about.

The devastation in Haiti is truly inconceivable for most of us. An impoverished nation that was already in a state of social and economic despair now faces the worst natural disaster of its history. The loss of life is catastrophic. The damage to this weak but hopeful country's infrastructure is immeasurable. But in this unimaginable tragedy, there is an opportunity for humankind to rise to extraordinary heights and come together to save our fellow man. There are dozens of reputable organizations that are delivering essential medical supplies, food, water and other basic life-saving provisions to Haiti. Find one. Give what you can.
